The University–Industry Collaboration Centers Platform (USIMP) is a platform established by the Adana University–Industry Joint Research Center (Adana ÜSAM), which received support for 10 years following the termination of the TÜBİTAK University–Industry Joint Research Centers (ÜSAM) Program initiated in 1997, along with the Biomedical Technologies Center Association (BİYOMEDTEK), OSTİM Middle East Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technologies R&D Center (ODAGEM), ITU Automotive Research Center (OTAM), Ceramic Research Center (SAM), and the Turkish Textile Foundation (TTV).
USIMP has brought together various public and private sector groups and has evolved into an expanding umbrella organization since its establishment. In particular, the increase in the number of Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) has accelerated the memberships after 2012. Today it has 140+ institutional members whom are interface organizations from various sectors and with different legal identities, namely, representatives from universities, industry, and non-governmental organizations.
Its unique structure as a civil initiative, allows ÜSIMP to rapidly respond to changing conditions and requirements. As a national platform, it has demonstrated an evolution parallel to the development of the national R&D and Innovation Ecosystem by anticipating needs and prioritizing its activities accordingly.
