Trainings


More than 20 Trainings of Professionals of Technology Transfer Offices have been organized in cooperation with the international institutions and organizations until today. In 2018, international recognition of these trainings is provided. The “continuing training points” (20 CE Points) to be obtained from the activities of USIMP have been approved for the RTTP certificate, the International Professional Recognition Certificate of Technology Transfer Professional.

 

3.1 Trainings of Technology Transfer Offices Professionals:

Starting from 2012, trainings are organized by USIMP in cooperation with different institutions and organizations, primarily with AUTM to meet the needs of trained personnel with appropriate qualifications for the units which shall operate as University-Industry Collaboration Interface institutions in universities and shall undertake the responsibilities for Technology Transfer, Licensing and commercialization to work effectively and efficiently. Technology valuation and licensing strategies, how to carry out license negotiations, how the preparation of agreements shall be more beneficial and management of the processes after the agreement were emphasized in the trainings.        

  • Technology Transfer Offices Training the Trainers I” - May 24-26, 2012: The training hosted by the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry is held in cooperation with AUTM, in Izmir, with the participation of 50 attendants,
  • Technology Transfer Offices Training the Trainers II”- February 14-16, 2013: The training hosted by E.U. EBILTEM-TTO is held in cooperation with AUTM, in Izmir, with the participation of 35 attendants,
  • Training of Technology Transfer Fundamentals III”- October 3-5, 2013: The training hosted by Fırat Technocity is held in cooperation with AUTM in Elazığ, with the participation of 65 attendants,
  • Training of Technology Transfer Professionals IV” - October 7-8, 2013: The training hosted by Gazi Technocity is held in cooperation with AUTM in Ankara, with the participation of 36 attendants,
  • IPR Training and Situation in Turkey Workshop”- October 20, 2013: hosted by E.U. EBILTEM-TTO in Izmir with contributions of EU IPR-Help Desk,
  • Technology Transfer Professionals Training Course”- December 9–11, 2013: hosted by Sabancı University in cooperation with Oxford ISIS, in Istanbul,
  • Training of Technology Transfer Fundamentals”- April 27-29, 2014: hosted by E.U. EBILTEM – TTO, in Izmir, with the participation of 43 attendants,
  • Training of Technology Transfer Professionals”- April 30 – May 2, 2014: hosted by E.U. EBILTEM – TTO, in Izmir, with the participation of 35 attendants,
  • “Patent and Intellectual Property Assessment”- November 1–2, 2014: hosted by Boğaziçi University, in cooperation with AUTM, in Istanbul, with the participation of 50 attendants,
  • “Beginner Training for Technology Transfer Specialists”- November 22 – 24, 2014: hosted by ARINKOM TTO, in Eskişehir, with the participation of 27 attendants,
  • “Advanced Training for Technology Transfer Specialists”- November 29 – December 1, 2014: hosted by ARINKOM TTO, in Eskişehir, with the participation of 27 attendants,
  • Within the scope of the studies performed to increase the success of RTTP applications, “How to apply for RTTP? Webinar”- March 12, 2020: Online, with the participation of 35 attendants,
  • “Interface Basic Training”- December 2, 2020 – February 2, 2020: held online for 9 weeks, with the participation of 25 attendants.

 

3.2 Intellectual Property Rights and Commercialization Trainings

IPR Trainings are held in cooperation with the international stakeholders of the USIMP members to meet the need for specialist personnel knowledgeable and experienced in IPR which has arisen in parallel with the establishment of TTOs. Employees and managers of organizations offering university-industry collaboration services in our country, primarily the USIMP member institutions and organizations, have participated in all trainings. “Participation Certificate” is given to those who have met the conditions of participation.         

  • “IPR Training and Situation in Turkey”- October 20, 2013: hosted by Ege University EBILTEM –TTO, in Izmir, with contributions of EU IPR-Help Desk, with the participation of 30 attendants,
  • “Technology Transfer Professionals Training Course”- December 9 – 11, 2013: hosted by Sabancı University, in Istanbul, with contributions of Oxford ISIS, with the participation of 45 attendants,
  • “Workshop on Reading Patent Maps”- September 11-14, 2014: hosted by Ege University, in Izmir, in cooperation with Sabancı University and Ege University EBILTEM – TTO, with the participation of 27 attendants,
  • “Patent and Intellectual Property Assessment”- November 1 – 2, 2014: hosted by Boğaziçi University, in Istanbul, with contributions of AUTM, with the participation of 50 attendants,
  • “Invention Assessment Training”- April 15-16, 2015: hosted by Ege University EBILTEM –TTO, in Izmir, in cooperation with STAEGER-SPERLING, with the participation of 35 attendants,

(Invention Assessment training is organized for TTO specialists. Determination and assessment of inventions with commercial potential and effective management of intellectual property rights are discussed within the scope of this training.)

Besides;

  • “IP.CAMP 2014 Training Camp” - October 01-03, 2014: The first organized IP CAMP training camp in cooperation with E.U. EBILTEM -TTO, Sabancı University and Inovent is supported by the USIMP. In IP CAMP 2014, the first patent and licensing-oriented training camp organized in Turkey, the subject of 'Patent Mapping' was discussed and trainers from prestigious institutions as L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson and Bardehle have participated.
  • “IP.CAMP 2015 Training Camp”- October 01-03, 2015: In the training program organized in Izmir-Çeşme, in cooperation with E.U. EBILTEM -TTO, Sabancı University, DCP and with the supports of USIMP, LES Turkey; trainings are given on “strategic management of patent portfolio” and “tech offer preparation” to TTO specialists and R&D personnel of the firms. 42 attendants in total have participated in the training. Emil Pot (ActogeniX) and Dr. Rachel Hamsley (UCLB) have taken place as the trainers.
  • “IP.CAMP 2016 Training Camp”- September 29 - October 1, 2016: The sole intellectual property – licensing focused training camp of Turkey is held for the third time on "Patent Portfolio Management and Licensing Strategies” in cooperation with Ege University EBILTEM -TTO, Sabancı University and DCP Venture Capital and supported by Arne Krueger from Moving Targets Consulting firm, Greg Harrop from Minesoft firm, Dr. Robert Harrison from 24 IP Law Group, Kevin Nachtrab from Johnson and Johnson and Ömer Hızıroğlu from DCP as trainers.
  • “IP.CAMP 2017 Training Camp”- September 28-30, 2017: The following topics are discussed under the main theme of "Patent Valuation" at the IP CAMP 2017 event, organized with the support of USIMP in cooperation with Sabancı University, Ege University EBILTEM-TTO, and LES-Turkey:

  • “IP.CAMP 2018 Training Camp” - September 13-15, 2018: IP CAMP 2018 training camp organized by Sabancı University and LES- Turkey under the theme of "Patents for Business Intelligence" is supported again by USIMP this year. Within the scope of the Program which 53 attendants have participated, trainings with the following topics are given by trainers expert in their fields at international level:

3.3 Registered Technology Transfer Professionals (RTTP) Trainings

In 2014, USIMP has become the only institution giving training for RTTP certificate in Turkey as an ATTP member. Currently, trainings designed in three different contexts as 20 hours theoretical and applied training and given in Turkish are approved by the “ATTP Course Recognition Committee” with 20 CE (continuous training score) each for RTTP certificate.

These trainings are organized for 10 times since 2018 and approximately 300 attendants have received the trainings:
